The latest Linux based Android smartphone OS from Google appeared for HTC phones. HTC made the 1.6 version (codename "Donut") available for their Android Dev Phone.

Version 1.6 contains many improvements like higher screen resolutions then 320x480, battery monitoring & a new version of the online-shop "Android Market."

Also a new "Quick Search Bar" is available for the Homescreen & now you can do more with voice commands, like search commands for the Google search engine.

Currently this Android 1.6 version is only available for the developer smartphone from HTC, the "Android Dev Phone." Soon 1.6 will be available for the other Android smartphones from HTC.
