The Puppy Linux project announced version 5.2 of the Puppy Linux distro, codename Wary.

Puppy Linux 5.2 is a "minimalist" distro designed for users who like a fast and lean Linux OS.

Puppy Linux is available as an 123 MB ISO image & can load entirely into RAM for faster performance, according to the project. 

Puppy Linux can boot off a flash card, or an USB device, as well as CD-ROMs and other media.


Release notes:

  • Recompile in T2 
  • Easy upgrade from Xorg 7.3 to 7.6, by a single PET mega-package
  • Gtksourceview/Nicoedit removed, BaCon highlighting in Geany 
  • Apps/utilities updated/fixed
  • Gtkam removed, replaced with PupCamera (see Woof notes above)
  • Lighthouse sys-info for easy reporting hardware when make bug report 
  • PuppyPhone (Psip) upgraded, our "Skype killer"
  • Adobe Flash player no longer in Wary, semi-automatic download
  • New PET packages 
  • Xfprot removed, broken (see Avast PET)
  • New, gHasher checksum generator 
  • GTK upgraded from 2.21.1 to 2.24.5
  • USB 3G modems: usb-modeswitch upgraded, bug fix
